Protect so as to last longer
Autumn arrives, temperatures fall, it rains, or summer holidays simply come to an end. It's time to protect our outdoor furniture. Sofas on the porch, garden tables and chairs, loungers or the barbecue. There's a cover to suit every need.
Ideally, we would keep our outdoor furniture clean and protected by storing it indoors. However, it is often the case that we do not have enough room inside, the furniture is difficult to move about, or we simply wish to leave it outdoors in order to make the most of those delicious moments of winter sun on our garden or terrace.
It is here that wintering covers are essential, helping us to keep all our furniture clean and in a perfect condition for whenever we need to use it again.
Tips to choose the right covers for our garden furniture.
- Apart from being resistant to the sun's ultraviolet rays, the covers must be water-repellent and easy to clean, meaning they must be made of good plastic-coated polyester fabric to ensure strength and durability
- Keep in mind that the covers must be breathable in order to avoid concentrations of moisture and to stop mould from forming. The best models are those that are open underneath and have windows to allow breathing.
- A good trick is to place an object in the middle, lifting up the cover like a tent. A simple plastic bucket in the centre of a table can help drain the cover and prevent any puddles that could soak through to the furniture.
