Today we present a cheap and trendy option to enjoy the terrace when the sun is tight.

​You’ve probably already seen them on the terraces of some trendy cafes and hotels because sail canopies are a trend in outdoor decoration. But I don’t know if you’ve considered putting one on that rooftop terrace where there’s no stopping when the heat’s on.

Installing a shading canvas is quite simple and economical. It does not require large structures or tools.
But there are some tips that you should know in advance to do it successfully and without getting complicated.

1. Waterproof awnings.

• They retain the heat of the shaded area and protect from UV rays.
• Ideal for areas with moderate temperatures, but forget if you live in an area with very warm weather
• It won’t let the water through, so it will also protect you from  summer showers.
• The canopy can swell with the wind and in highly exposed areas can compromise the installation.

• They protect from UV rays.

​Colour helps to block or allow light to pass: the darker the canopy, the more sun protection it offers.

Lighter colours filter the sun’s rays better, providing greater luminosity. Darker colours act as a light and solar barrier. 

At night you can also play with the effect of illuminating a light-coloured awning and generate a very suggestive indirect light effect.

The installation of the canopy.

​​Think that a lousy stretch can create water bags that damage the awning and installation. Install the canopy with the appropriate tension and with an inclination of 25-30% to ensure the correct water evacuation. Don’t overdo the strain (and avoid bending the tree or pillar).
